Recoup Day

When I got up with one of my kids at 12:30 am, I noticed my abs were so sore from yesterday's ride, but that passed.   This morning at 6:30 am, I felt pretty good.  No sore muscles or any weakness.  I felt strong.

Today, I noticed a few things...I do feel a little tired at this precise moment, but if the weather was nicer (it's cold and raining) I could handle another bike ride (an easy 10 miles).  We also went to lunch and had subs.  My sandwich was so filling, that I was thankful my kids helped eat mine.  I also notice how salty the food tasted.  Now, I know Suburbia's Subs are always pretty salty, but I also know from losing weight before that my taste changes as my body readies itself to lose weight.

The more active I become with biking, I will notice my hunger changes, I will get extremely hungry all of a sudden, but the hunger will be satisfied by something small like a healthy snack or a small amount of food and sometimes even a nice carbonated water.

40 miles - Carol

Psyching myself up for my ride today.  Weather was cold and windy, but I knew I needed at least another 10 miles to complete my first week of summer bicycling workout routine.  Woooooohaaaaa.

Man, I exceeded my goal, by 10.  Yeah me!

I did my first 10 miles and felt really good.  Then as I was ending the 10 , I challenged myself to another 10 and did it.  I didn't struggle, but the last 5 was pretty tough.

If you look closely you'll see little turtles right at the edge of the water.  Noticed them during my first 20, but wanted to take a pic to share today.  There are so many.

Observation Day

Today I woke up pretty sore still from the bike ride 2 days ago, but soon enough I was moving around like normal.  I also noticed my arms and leg muscles getting a little definition back.

I decided not to have any coffee, but only about 2 cups diet soda.  Normally, I NEED coffee.  I ate a regular breakfast and lunch.  Tonight we're having bbq chicken.

I'm enjoying a couple vodka seltzer waters at the moment and find I am no longer craving sugary drinks.  :)

Recoup Day

I felt pretty beat down this morning.  I was happy to have slept so well, only getting up twice for kids and bathroom.  Luckily I remembered to vitamin up last night before bed.

I know there's a lot of people who don't think vitamins are necessary (like my hubby), but I swear by them.  I know for me, I feel my best with a multi vitamin (I take prenatals, because I find I'm able to take it on an empty stomach and not have any adverse reactions.  If I take a regular vitamin on an empty stomach, then I feel ill within 10 minutes of taking it and the feeling lasts for hours even after I eat, so I just don't take them.), B stress and Fish Oil tablet or two.

My hubby thinks that a person should get all the vitamins they need from the food they eat during the day.  And, yes, in a perfect world that is true.  Well, I know there are days where I don't get what I need, so my rationale is that I'll take the vitamins because I know whatever I don't need will simply be eliminated.

When I start biking regularly again, I like to go one day on and the next off for the first 2 weeks.  Tomorrow is a bike day, so hopefully the weather will work with me.  It's always iffy in the Spring.

I started a weight-loss spring/summer 2012 support group on FB today.

20 miles - Carol

Today, I started my spring biking routine that will continue throughout this summer.  My goal is to bike a consistent 40+ miles per week and to drop 20 lbs.

I accomplished my goal of losing 35 lbs 2 summers ago.  I'm hoping for a repeat.  :)

I biked the first 10 miles without any issues.  My last 10 was a little tougher, I had to stop twice for water (normally I don't stop at all) and talk myself into finishing, lol.  But, I KNEW if I could finish and do the total 20 miles that would motivate me to start my biking routine today, without making anymore excuses.
