Best of luck to you.  Take care.  :)

Time & Place

It's funny the spot where everyone goes to to find comfort, when the chips are down.  Some people tweet, others blog, still others call their bff on the phone and some just stay silent and let the situation envelope them into a place in time where they close their eyes and just breathe.  Whatever it is, it's all okay.  I bike.  So, here is where I come.

Come to find, my partner in the blog is gone.  I didn't delete her stuff.  So, she must have.  It's okay, I understand.  Isn't the first time. I wasn't sure if I'd feel like blogging anymore of not.  Just waiting, I guess.

There's always a lull of biking for me in the summertime.  I don't like to bike when it's too hot and it's been pretty hot lately.  Though now the temps are in the low 70's and perfect biking weather.

My head is a couple different places lately, one being 440 miles away.  It's hard to stay focused.  But, I must. My plan is to bike at least 20-30 miles tomorrow.

Carol

Still bike periodically, but with the heat my biking gets more sporadic.  I'm concentrating on  P90X right now.  Here's the link:  http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90x.do.

It's a great workout and so much fun to do from the comfort of your own home (in air conditioning).  :)  Super excellent for toning.  OOOh yeah.

I'll get back to biking in the fall, once things cool down a bit.

As a side note:  I've lost a total of 20 lbs this spring/summer due to healthy eating and bicycling.

Thanks and roll on.  ;)  Later.

Carol

HAhahaha, did 5 miles with the boys and then 20 by myself.  Whew.  85 total for the week.  Very happy with myself.

Carol

Rode 60 miles this week, 2 times of 30 miles each.  My oldest went with for 5 miles.  I try to encourage them to ride along.  Down another 5 lbs from this week alone.

I have a few other things going on as well, it's nice to have the biking to help me focus.

Hoping to go for a ride in a little bit with the kids.  It'll just be for fun, no serious mileage.  :)

Carol

Week off.  Took the week off except for a nice mile jog earlier in the week.

Plan to step it up a bit, gotta a deadline in mine and weather will be too hot to bike pretty much after mid-July.  But, I'm gonna push it until then.  It's nice being to wear I don't feel I need to lose anymore weight, but focus on some spots and well, then I'll be all down and maintaining will be my goal.

Carol w/e 5/26

This past week I rode about 50 miles.  I've noticed that my pants are very loose now.  Almost time to go shopping.

Carol w/e 5/19

I managed to bike 60 miles total for this week.

Week 3 - 40 miles - Carol

Oh what a week this has been.  Lost my appetite and even forgot to eat breakfast a couple days....who forgets? I mean, really.  Anyway, this week was only 40 miles, but I am armed with 2 new music groups on my iPod, so I'm thinking this week, weather permitting, I gotta push it up to 75 miles.   Well, that's my goal.

100 miles total - Carol

Yeah.  I feel very accomplished right now.  I rode 100 miles over the last 2 weeks.  This is what I like to refer to as my break-in time to get back into the cycle of biking and eating healthy with the plan to drop some major lbs.

Today, I did my last 10 miles in a light misty rain.  It's only about 50 degrees, but really...I didn't care, it could have been full on storm, lol.

90 miles - Carol

My youngest (in trailer) and I biked 15 miles today and accidentally rode over a frog squishing him flat.   I feel so bad.

- 5 lbs

I am so wiped out, tired.  Ate a cheeseburger for dinner with baked fries as a treat (truth be told...I had 2 cheeseburgers, lol), then I weighed myself and took a shower.  I lost 5 lbs over these last 2 weeks.  :)  I'm thrilled.

So, does that mean for every 75 miles I bike I lose 5 lbs?  LOL.  If so, sign me up for 300 more!  ;)  Haha.  Oy.

75 miles - Carol

Today was a silly biking day.  My youngest and I did 10 with bike & trailer.  Then I did another 15 by myself.  So, happy.  I'm pretty tired, but still kickin'.  ;)

Recoup Day

When I got up with one of my kids at 12:30 am, I noticed my abs were so sore from yesterday's ride, but that passed.   This morning at 6:30 am, I felt pretty good.  No sore muscles or any weakness.  I felt strong.

Today, I noticed a few things...I do feel a little tired at this precise moment, but if the weather was nicer (it's cold and raining) I could handle another bike ride (an easy 10 miles).  We also went to lunch and had subs.  My sandwich was so filling, that I was thankful my kids helped eat mine.  I also notice how salty the food tasted.  Now, I know Suburbia's Subs are always pretty salty, but I also know from losing weight before that my taste changes as my body readies itself to lose weight.

The more active I become with biking, I will notice my hunger changes, I will get extremely hungry all of a sudden, but the hunger will be satisfied by something small like a healthy snack or a small amount of food and sometimes even a nice carbonated water.

40 miles - Carol

Psyching myself up for my ride today.  Weather was cold and windy, but I knew I needed at least another 10 miles to complete my first week of summer bicycling workout routine.  Woooooohaaaaa.

Man, I exceeded my goal, by 10.  Yeah me!

I did my first 10 miles and felt really good.  Then as I was ending the 10 , I challenged myself to another 10 and did it.  I didn't struggle, but the last 5 was pretty tough.

If you look closely you'll see little turtles right at the edge of the water.  Noticed them during my first 20, but wanted to take a pic to share today.  There are so many.

Observation Day

Today I woke up pretty sore still from the bike ride 2 days ago, but soon enough I was moving around like normal.  I also noticed my arms and leg muscles getting a little definition back.

I decided not to have any coffee, but only about 2 cups diet soda.  Normally, I NEED coffee.  I ate a regular breakfast and lunch.  Tonight we're having bbq chicken.

I'm enjoying a couple vodka seltzer waters at the moment and find I am no longer craving sugary drinks.  :)

Recoup Day

I felt pretty beat down this morning.  I was happy to have slept so well, only getting up twice for kids and bathroom.  Luckily I remembered to vitamin up last night before bed.

I know there's a lot of people who don't think vitamins are necessary (like my hubby), but I swear by them.  I know for me, I feel my best with a multi vitamin (I take prenatals, because I find I'm able to take it on an empty stomach and not have any adverse reactions.  If I take a regular vitamin on an empty stomach, then I feel ill within 10 minutes of taking it and the feeling lasts for hours even after I eat, so I just don't take them.), B stress and Fish Oil tablet or two.

My hubby thinks that a person should get all the vitamins they need from the food they eat during the day.  And, yes, in a perfect world that is true.  Well, I know there are days where I don't get what I need, so my rationale is that I'll take the vitamins because I know whatever I don't need will simply be eliminated.

When I start biking regularly again, I like to go one day on and the next off for the first 2 weeks.  Tomorrow is a bike day, so hopefully the weather will work with me.  It's always iffy in the Spring.

I started a weight-loss spring/summer 2012 support group on FB today.

20 miles - Carol

Today, I started my spring biking routine that will continue throughout this summer.  My goal is to bike a consistent 40+ miles per week and to drop 20 lbs.

I accomplished my goal of losing 35 lbs 2 summers ago.  I'm hoping for a repeat.  :)

I biked the first 10 miles without any issues.  My last 10 was a little tougher, I had to stop twice for water (normally I don't stop at all) and talk myself into finishing, lol.  But, I KNEW if I could finish and do the total 20 miles that would motivate me to start my biking routine today, without making anymore excuses.
